WES Wesfarmers results announced

Wesfarmers announced their results today. The share price dropped over 2% when they announced a 83% drop in profit for the year mainly due to losses in Target and its coal businesses. The dividend was also cut from $1.11 to 95 cents.

There was an overall drop of $180. There was a major drop in REG (Regis Health Care) today of 6%. This is due to a cut in funding of aged care by the Federal Government. Countering this AHG rose on its results announcement. Most of the other shares were slightly lower than last week

AHG Announcement

AHG maintained it's final dividend of 13 cents going ex-Dividend on the 15th September. AHG has halted trading as AHG is making a share placement amongst the institutions and a smaller one amongst retail investors. The price is at 6% below yesterdays close.

These issues are good for long term investors but gives unwanted volatility for the short term trading that I do.

The completed positions are now running at an average of a ten percent per trade return. My own modelling of this system shows an average return of closer to 6% per trade. The return of the system is how many trades can be done within a year. Assuming trades that are held for 47 days then we should be able to turn over capital seven and a half times or a 46% return annually. Higher if compounding is taken into account. Of course, every year is different, but back-testing this system, showed that almost all years since 2000 are profitable.
